Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia, typically taking 1–2 hours. Implants are inserted through an incision (commonly in the inframammary fold, around the areola, or in the armpit) and positioned either under the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle (submuscular). Implant size, shape, profile, and placement are determined based on your anatomy, measurements, and goals. Patients usually return home the same day or after one night

Pre-operative: Cease smoking at least 4–6 weeks prior. Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications. Pre-operative mammogram may be required for patients over 35. Arrange time off work (typically 1–2 weeks for desk roles). Post-operative: Wear a supportive surgical bra at all times for 6 weeks. Avoid upper body exercise and heavy lifting for 6 weeks. Sleep on your back. Some swelling and tightness is normal and will settle. Attend all follow-up appointments. Implants are not lifetime devices; future revision surgery may be required.
